Kira Ehrmann
Therapist, CSWA
Hello! I’m Kira, a Clinical Social Work Associate and Mental Health Therapist. Before I tell you more about me, let me start by acknowledging the courage and effort it takes to initiate the therapeutic process, and to show up for yourself in this vulnerable and challenging way. Many people never get this far, and showing up truly is half the battle. So kudos to you!
I believe we all deserve a space to process our lives in a safe environment, accompanied by an objective and nonjudgmental thought partner who can nudge us down the path to greater self-awareness, help us grapple with and contextualize our struggles, and come out feeling a little lighter on the other side. I also believe the foundation to creating this kind of container comes from building a strong and trusting relationship based on mutual respect, honesty and authenticity. From this foundation, we can collaborate on how to best reach your goals and begin doing the good, hard work of befriending ourselves with curiosity and compassion.
I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, difficult adjustments or transitions, grief and loss, and questions of identity. Some of my preferred approaches are: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) because of its emphasis on mindfulness and value based inquiry; and the combination of narrative therapy with a somatic lens- because our bodies hold our stories, and the practice of better attuning to the messages our bodies are giving us (and noticing what stories are attached to them) can be a powerful tool in our journey.
Outside of this space I’m an animal mom to two little old ladies (Zoe the dog and Franny the cat) and one absolutely crazy and very sweet kitten named Franklin, who sometimes wears a bowtie. I love nature and exploring, playing table tennis, reading, and taking naps. Maintaining a sense of humor and a commitment to joy as a form of resistance is of the utmost importance to me. I hold a Bachelor’s from Lewis & Clark College, and a Master’s in Social Work from Portland State University.
