Casandra, CSWA she/her

Therapist

Welcome! I’m Cas. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss,

major life changes, stress, as well as those wanting to build self-confidence, quiet their

inner critic, or gain a deeper understanding of themselves. As a Certified Clinical

Rehabilitation Counselor, I have additional training in working with those experiencing

chronic illness and disability.

In a world that is busy and distracting, it can feel hard to dedicate time to focus on our

needs, which can leave us feeling overwhelmed, unclear, or stuck. Sometimes it takes

really slowing down, tapping into our "true selves," and doing a bit of digging and

reflection to clarify or make sense of things. I strongly believe in the innate wisdom each

person holds for their own life and path. When we work together, you can expect to be

met with a warm, compassionate, and authentic presence. I value humor, both in life

and in sessions. Much of our work will focus on your strengths, highlighting the skills

and resilience you’ve naturally developed over the years, all while supporting you in

developing new ways of coping if old patterns are no longer working. Together, we will

build tools to help you move toward healing and growth, even if that means growing

more comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Methods I incorporate into my practice include psychodynamic theory, somatic

approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Polyvagal Theory, and

mindfulness. I believe what we have experienced in the past affects how we live in the

present. If it feels safe and comfortable for you, we can use somatic noticing to tune in

to your body, exploring your experiences on a deeper level.

Becoming a counselor has been deeply influenced by my personal experiences with

loss and drive for self-growth. I am honored to do this work. I hold a bachelor’s in

Psychology from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and a master’s in Clinical

Rehabilitation Counseling from Portland State University. My experience in the field

includes working at a grief counseling center, as well as in psychiatric residential and

day treatment programs. I completed my training placements at the Portland State

Community Counseling Clinic and the Oregon Commission for the Blind, where I

provided both mental health and vocational rehabilitation counseling. I also have nearly

20 years of experience under my belt in the food service industry.

Outside of counseling, my interests include cooking with what I have on hand.

Gardening and experiencing the change in seasons. Being outdoors in any capacity.

Hanging out with my two cats, Monster and Luna, and just sitting and letting my

thoughts wander. I also love going on adventures and jumping into cold bodies of water

(ain’t that just life?).

Making sure we are a good fit is an important aspect of our work together. Please reach

out with any questions you may have. I really look forward to connecting with you!
